I’ve been following the tragic case of Carlos H. Lara-Ramos, and I can't stop thinking about how this all unfolded. It's chilling to know that Sandoval-Ortiz waited outside for such a long time, clearly intent on confrontation. The fact that he traded drugs for a gun just hours before and then claimed it was an accidental discharge feels so, so disingenuous. The witnesses seeing him deliberately point and shoot speaks volumes about premeditation.
This case has made me reflect deeply on how domestic violence can spiral into something horrific so quickly. My heart goes out to Carlos’ family and his girlfriend, who are left to deal with such an immense loss. No one should have to live in fear for choosing to move on with their life. It’s a sobering reminder of the necessity for stricter measures against domestic violence perpetrators. We need to do better in preventing these tragedies.
