Hey everyone,
I've been following the tragic case of Dean Tunstall, and something that's been on my mind is the role mental health might have played for Robert Breck. At 80, Breck's decision to resort to violence is perplexing and sad. I'm curious if there were signs of declining mental health or any previous behaviors that might have warned others. It's a reminder of how important it is for communities, especially in senior living facilities, to be vigilant and supportive of mental wellness.
Another thing I wanted to mention is how brave Montoya and Garris were during such a horrific moment. I can’t imagine the trauma they must be enduring right now, and I hope they’re getting all the support they need to heal. My heart goes out to Dean's family and friends who are coping with this senseless loss.
It’s just another reminder of how fragile life is and the need to be kind and watch out for one another.
Be safe, everyone.
I can’t stop thinking about the ripple effect that this whole tragedy must have had on the Smith Tower community. It’s unimaginable what living in a place where their neighbor was murdered must be like, especially when many residents are in their later years and should feel safe in their home. Communities like these are supposed to be supportive environments for seniors, and now the residents have to carry this heavy burden.

I hope there’s some form of counseling or support being offered to help everyone process such a traumatic event. It’s already difficult to lose someone to violence, but given the circumstances--and the fact that it was a fellow resident, no less--it must add layers to their grief. Has anyone heard about any community support initiatives or memorials being planned for Dean? We must stand by them during this incredibly difficult time.
