I've been mulling over the George Pollard case and something that strikes me about the whole ordeal is how the legal system handled—or mishandled—the situation. I can't help but think about how frustrating it must have been for Pollard’s family to see William Humber acquitted not once, but twice. It makes me question how justice was delivered back then, especially in a close-knit community like Lancaster.

The fact that Humber admitted his intent to harm Pollard while getting his wound treated is chilling. If someone threatens murder, shouldn’t that be weighted heavily in court? It's baffling that such a clear intent to kill wasn't enough for a conviction. It makes one wonder if there might’ve been some biases at play in the jury or just an overall lack of proper evidence gathering.

I’m also thinking about Pollard’s wife and kids. They not only lost a husband and father but also had to witness the legal system failing to bring closure. It must have been incredibly tough to see Humber walking free, still continuing his business in the town. It's a vivid reminder of how the lack of justice can compound the tragedy of losing a loved one.
