I've been following this tragic event ever since hearing about Edward Ray Harris's murder back in '79. The aspect that really struck me was how such routine situations can take such a dangerous turn. It makes you realize just how much we rely on our troopers and officers to keep us safe, often at the risk of their own lives. I can't imagine the pain his family must have gone through, especially knowing that he was simply doing his job, something he'd done countless times before without incident. The fact that the suspect was shot and killed by other officers means there wasn't much of a legal closure route available for Harris's family. It must have been an incredibly hard period for them, having to cope with such a sudden loss and the absence of justice in a traditional sense. The community's support, as seen during his funeral, hopefully provided some comfort. Sending all my heartfelt respect to Trooper Harris's family and gratitude to all law enforcement officers for their courage and dedication.

I was reading through some old case files and came across the tragic incident of Trooper Edward Ray Harris. It's devastating to think about the split-second decisions officers have to make, especially during something that starts as a routine traffic stop. I've been wondering about the training and resources available to officers back in 1979. Were they adequately prepared for these unpredictable situations? From what I've read, Harris was a devoted officer and family man—it's truly a loss that shakes the core of the community, even decades later. My heart goes out to his wife Brenda and their children. I can't imagine the strength they've needed to move forward. It's vital that we continue to support our law enforcement while advocating for improved safety measures to prevent such tragedies from occurring. If anyone knows more about the protocols back then or could share insights on how they've evolved, I'd love to learn more.

I've been thinking a lot about the night Trooper Edward Ray Harris lost his life. It's almost impossible to imagine the grief his family must have gone through, especially Brenda and their three young kids. To lose someone so suddenly and violently must be devastating. I’ve read that they were a close-knit family, and Harris was known not just as a dedicated officer but as a loving husband and father. What strikes me is how often we take for granted the sacrifice law enforcement officers and their families make. My heart goes out to those kids who had to grow up without their father. The way the community came together during the funeral at First Baptist—Harris must have been an incredible person to inspire such widespread respect and love. If anyone has details on how his family is doing these days or any charity funds that support officer families in similar situations, I’d love to learn more. It's important that we do what we can to help those who've lost so much.
