I've been thinking a lot about Nikki's school friends and how devastating this must have been for them. It's unimaginable for kids to have to process the loss of a classmate, especially under such horrific circumstances. I read that Nikki was in the fifth grade at the time, and I can only hope that her school provided counselors and support for her peers. Young children often don't know how to deal with grief, and this kind of event could be incredibly confusing and terrifying for them. Has anyone found any updates on how the school or community has been supporting these kids? My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy.
