I've been following Brittney Niecol Silvers’ case closely, and one thing that really stands out to me is the failure of the system to protect her. A Domestic Violence Order of Protection was in place, yet it didn’t save her from this tragedy. How is it possible that Victor was still able to access a gun and make it to her apartment? It's so frustrating to see that even when someone takes the right steps to protect themselves, it doesn’t always ensure their safety. My heart goes out to Brittney’s family, friends, and the broader military community that has been affected by this. I really hope this case brings about changes in how protective orders are enforced, especially in situations where the threat seems immediate. The legal and military systems need to do better in acting swiftly to genuinely protect those at risk. Does anyone have insights or experiences on how this process might be improved?
