I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact that Jalen William Anthony’s murder has had on the Algonquin neighborhood. It’s so sad to see how violence affects an entire community, not just the immediate friends and family of the victim. Jalen was just 16—he had his whole life ahead of him, and now his family and friends are grappling with an unimaginable loss. What’s even more frustrating is the lack of answers. The police don’t have any leads or suspects that they’re sharing, and it’s like there’s a shadow hanging over the area. I hope someone with information finds it in their heart to come forward. It feels like Jalen and everyone touched by his loss deserves some peace and justice. My thoughts are with his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
