I came across this tragic incident involving Dawson VanPortfliet and felt compelled to share my thoughts on the impact this has had on his friends and classmates. Being a young person in school and losing a peer so suddenly is incredibly difficult for anyone to process. Dawson seemed like such an active and promising young person, involved in Boy Scouts and martial arts—a reminder of the vibrant life he lived. I understand the school set up counseling services, which is crucial. To any students or staff reading this, it's important to lean on these resources and each other for support. Strength in community can help everyone navigate complex emotions and dark times like these. It's heartwarming to see how the Aitkin community has rallied around the family with vigils and fundraisers—it speaks volumes about human kindness. My thoughts are with Dawson's family and friends as they continue to grieve and remember him.
