I've been following Marissa Boyd's case closely, and it really makes me reflect on the culture of fear and silence that exists in some neighborhoods. It's incredibly frustrating that people may know who did this but are too scared to speak up. I can't even begin to imagine what Marissa's family is going through, not just dealing with the loss but the continuous uncertainty and lack of closure. In too many cases like these, the community ends up trapped in a cycle of violence and silence because of a deep-seated fear of retaliation. I really admire Marissa’s mother's strength and determination to seek justice in an environment where people are understandably hesitant to come forward. It just goes to show how these systemic issues persist and complicate so many aspects of bringing perpetrators to justice. My heart goes out to the Boyd family and all those who are hurting while justice remains elusive. How can we as a community support families like Marissa's and break this cycle of fear?
