I keep thinking about the bravery and dedication Deputy Kenney showed on that tragic day in Clay Center. It's mind-boggling to imagine the danger officers willingly face, not just for their own safety but in carrying out duties to protect the rest of us. I read that Deputy Kenney was a key figure in getting the canine unit up and running, which shows how much he cared about improving law enforcement in his community. It's just so sad that Copper, too, was lost in this horrible event. Dogs like Copper aren’t just partners to their handlers; they're family. My heart goes out to all those who knew and loved Jim Kenney, and to his family that must carry on without him. It's hard to find words to express the sheer respect I feel for their sacrifice.
