Does anyone else feel like the whole confrontation could have been de-escalated if cooler heads had prevailed? It's devastating to think how a neighborhood dispute escalated so quickly and resulted in William Rodella-Mecino losing his life. I can't help but think about how many opportunities there might have been to just pause and think rationally, rather than acting on impulse. I imagine there are countless moments Ruben Sandoval and Nicholas Miller replay over and over in their minds, wishing things had turned out differently. For William's family, this must be an unimaginable loss. I just hope that by discussing these cases, we can learn how to prevent them in the future and encourage communities to find healthier ways to resolve conflicts. What do you all think—could better conflict resolution or mediation have made a difference?
