Hi everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to reflect on Michael Arnold’s incredible dedication to his family and passion for life. It's so moving to hear how he was in the process of building a small aircraft at home - a testament to his love for flying and his adventurous spirit. I can only imagine how much that project meant to him, and how excited he must have been to share it with his loved ones. As someone who was clearly so skilled and driven, it’s just devastating thinking about all the experiences and memories that his family has been robbed of.
Knowing he was a Navy veteran with a remarkable career, it's clear he was committed to service and excellence in everything he did. My heart honestly goes out to Jolanda and their sons, Eric and Christopher. They must feel an insurmountable loss, and I can only hope they find some comfort in the love and memories they shared with him.
This case really shines a light on the urgent need for addressing mental health issues more seriously. It's troubling that despite Aaron Alexis’s history, things got to this point. It’s a tough reminder of the gaps in the system that need addressing to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
Stay safe, everyone. Hug your loved ones extra tightly.
Warmly,

I keep thinking about how Michael Arnold had this deep passion for aviation. It goes beyond just flying; he was actually building a plane in his garage. Can you imagine the dedication and patience it takes to do something like that? It must have been such a meaningful project for him—a physical manifestation of his love for flight. I can only hope his family finds some comfort in knowing he was doing what he loved, even if his dreams were cut short so tragically.
It's incredible how he dedicated so much of his life to serving his country and then pursued a career where he could still contribute to the Navy community. It's just so devastating to think about the impact that such a senseless act has had on his family and colleagues. I hope they find peace in the memories they have of him, shaped not only by his professional contributions but also by his personal passions and love for life. Sending all my thoughts and prayers to his loved ones during this difficult time.
I've been reading about the Washington Navy Yard shooting, and I can't help but feel deeply for Michael Arnold and his family. What an incredible man he must have been—a Navy Commander with 29 years of service and still contributing to the community through his work with LMI. It's touching to learn that he was also fulfilling a personal dream by building a small aircraft. Such a testament to his passion for flying and life overall.
It's just devastating to think that his life, filled with accomplishments and love for his family, ended so suddenly and violently. His wife and sons must carry a burden that's hard to even comprehend. Events like the Navy Yard shooting are a stark reminder of the unpredictability of life and the importance of mental health awareness and security. My heart goes out to everyone affected, and I hope we can find ways to prevent future tragedies like this.
