I was looking through some old newspaper archives and found an interview with Ronald’s third-grade teacher. What stood out to me was how she described Ronald as always smiling and ready to help his classmates with anything. It’s so moving to think about the impact this little boy had on those around him, even at such a young age. I can't imagine the heartbreak for the families and those who knew Ronald and Steven in such a bright and promising part of their lives. If anything, stories like this remind us of the harsh realities of even the smallest communities and the need for closure. I hope that continued attention to this case can somehow bring forth new information. Stay strong to all those still waiting.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the community response to the tragic loss of Ronald and Steven. It’s haunting to imagine the impact such an event must have had on their families and everyone in the neighborhood back in 1980. I wasn’t around then, but hearing about how two kids never came home one afternoon really gives a sense of vulnerability to all parents out there. I can’t fathom the fear it must have instilled in other children and families at the time, just wanting to feel safe again. One thing that has always stood out to me is how the case has warmed up and cooled off over the years, with the devastating realization that the prime suspect was identified too late. It’s unsettling to know that justice has been so elusive despite the efforts made by investigators and the community’s hope for answers. I hope that with advancements in technology and forensics, there might still be a breakthrough. The families deserve closure, and these two boys deserve justice. Keeping this case alive in our minds and sharing any info, no matter how small, could be a step toward finally solving this.
