On a late afternoon in March of 1980, the grim discovery of two young boys forever altered the sense of security in their Adams County community. A passerby happened upon the bodies of 7-year-old Ronald Lewis Defond, a White male, and his 10-year-old friend, Steven Wicks, lying side by side in a field near Tower Road in Aurora, Colorado.
