Hey everyone, I’ve been diving deep into the Randy Doran case and something that's stuck with me is the lack of attention it received initially. I mean, here’s a young Marine veteran trying to start over in a new city, and then he just vanishes after sending a postcard from the SS *President*. It makes me wonder if he really did up and leave or if something more sinister happened onboard or in the vicinity. Has anyone here ever looked into the conditions and happenings around the dock area in New Orleans from that time? It seems like a part of his story that might provide clues, especially if he made connections that were untoward. Maybe someone out there remembers something — dock workers, locals, anyone who might have seen or heard something strange. It's just one more avenue to explore in this perplexing case. The smallest detail could spark new interest and potentially shatter the veil of silence surrounding his disappearance.

I recently stumbled across Randy Stewart Doran's case, and something that's been bugging me is the job he mentioned in his last postcard. Does anyone know how easy it would have been back in 1978 to get a job on a steamboat like the SS *President*? I'm curious if there were any crew member logs or employee rosters that might have been looked into. It could be a lead, considering he mentioned making friends at that job. If he did come into contact with someone there, maybe they saw or heard something. Makes me wonder if any of his coworkers were ever questioned or if any of them might still be around to give information. Anyone know anything about this?
