I’ve been thinking a lot about Korina Valles' case, and what really gets under my skin is how preventable this tragedy might have been with better awareness and education. It's hard to imagine what her family must be going through after losing such a bright young soul. So many lives altered forever.
It makes me wonder what more communities can do to truly reach these kids. I know local groups have stepped up, but are we really addressing the root of the issue? Schools are definitely starting conversations about healthy relationships, but are teens actually paying attention, or do they think it doesn’t apply to them?
I’m also worried about those who are too scared to speak up. How do we create spaces where they feel safe to share their experiences before it’s too late? I hope we can learn from Korina's story and do everything we can to prevent another senseless loss like this one.
