I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts on the bond reform discussion that came up during the Jackson Weller case. Following Bashir's arrest, district attorneys started to reassess how bonds were handled, especially for repeat offenders. Considering Bashir's history, it makes me wonder if more stringent measures should have been in place to prevent him from being out on the streets. It's deeply saddening to think about how a young man's life was cut short, and my heart goes out to Weller's family and friends who had to endure such a painful loss. It seems like the legal system has some gaps that need addressing. Do you all think reforming the bond system could prevent tragedies like this, or are there other parts of the justice system that need reform too?

Hey everyone, I just wanted to chime in about something that's been on my mind regarding Jackson Weller's case. I've been thinking about the community support that came together after his tragic passing. It's truly touching to see how people from all over, not just those who knew him personally, rallied to honor his memory and support one another. The memorial at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Colleyville was really moving. It must have been comforting for his family and friends to see such a massive turnout of people who cared about Jackson. The UNM baseball team also did something special by making those shirts with his name. It's gestures like these that remind us how important it is to keep someone's legacy alive, irrespective of how short their journey was. For those who were there or who knew Jackson, I'd love to hear more about the impact he had on your lives. How are you all coping a few years on? Sharing these memories might help keep his spirit alive and remind us why we need to work harder to prevent senseless violence. ?️
