Hey everyone, Just wanted to share a thought I had while going over some articles about John Lewis’s case and the tragic year of 2015 in Chicago. The statistics from that year are just overwhelming, and it’s devastating to see how widespread the impact of violence was across so many communities. What struck me was the specific mention of how African-American and Hispanic neighborhoods were particularly affected. It makes you think about the long-lasting trauma for those local communities who lived through that spike in violence. Knowing that these neighborhoods were heavily impacted, it raises so many questions about the support systems in place back then. Were there enough resources, safe spaces, or interventions to help the families and children who had to navigate this harsh reality daily? It's frustrating to ponder over how much might have been done sooner or differently to genuinely support those who needed it the most during that time. Even today, I think about John's family and friends and what they must still be going through. It's so important to keep discussing this and looking at ways to address the roots of such violence holistically, not just focusing on law enforcement but also on community support and rebuilding trust. I hope we can all keep pushing for change, so this cycle doesn't continue to repeat itself. Thoughts and prayers are with those who knew John and everyone else caught up in that year of heightened tragedy. ? Stay safe, everyone.
