Hey everyone,
I've been thinking about how this case has been without much of a resolution for some time now, and something that has been on my mind is the role of community safety in Northeast Portland. The neighborhood where this tragedy occurred is usually known for its tight-knit community vibe, but this shooting certainly has left a cloud hanging over it.
Does anyone here live in or near the area, or have connections to local groups? Have there been any organized efforts to increase neighborhood watch programs or anything of that sort? It just feels like the community might still be grappling with such a violent and unexpected event. It's sad knowing George Atkeson's family has to recall those painful memories without closure, and Darlene Kelley is still recovering from both the physical and emotional scars.
I feel like community involvement can sometimes lead to new insights or tips that could help move investigations forward, especially in situations where official information is scarce. What do you all think?

This case is so haunting and frustrating. My heart goes out to the families of George Michael Atkeson and Darlene Marie Kelley. I can't even begin to imagine the pain they're going through. I keep thinking about how terrifying it must have been for Darlene, surviving such an ordeal and then dealing with her serious injuries on top of losing George.
What really puzzles me is the lack of information on the suspects. It's been so long, and yet we still don't have anything solid. I wonder if there might have been any witnesses or if there's any security camera footage from around that area that could provide some clues. It seems so unusual for there to be such a void of information after such a horrific event. Has there been any community outreach or efforts to keep the case alive and in the public eye? I hope there's some breakthrough soon; the families and community deserve answers and justice.
