Reading about the tragic events of November 7, 1979, I can't help but reflect on the courage demonstrated by Trooper Philip Kesner. It's truly devastating to think that someone who dedicated his life to serving and protecting his community could have his life cut short in such a violent and senseless manner. He wasn't even on duty when he encountered the chaos of the prison break, and yet he took action without hesitation.
I found myself particularly struck by the fact that Kesner was with his wife at the time. I can't begin to imagine what she must have gone through during those terrifying moments and the immense loss she faced in the aftermath. My heart goes out to her and the rest of Trooper Kesner's family, as well as his fellow officers who have had to carry on without him. His bravery continues to resonate, and his story is a somber reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face, even when they're off the clock.
