I recently stumbled upon the case of Sergeant Jerry Randall Stanley, and something that's been weighing on my mind is the lack of proper equipment for officers back then. It’s so sad to think that a bullet-proof vest could have possibly saved his life. How could departments not have prioritized these vests, especially when officers like Sergeant Stanley were putting their lives on the line every day? It's tragic to imagine the what-ifs, and my heart goes out to his family and colleagues who had to face such a terrible loss. I hope circumstances like these have compelled changes in policy to better protect our officers today.
