On August 27, 2017, William Lawrence Duncan, a 43-year-old African American male, was fatally shot in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. at 8849 Braesmont Drive. Due to high water conditions at the time, Houston Police Department patrol officers faced challenges reaching the scene. HPD SWAT officers utilized an airboat to access the location, discovering that Mr. Duncan had already been transported to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations revealed that prior to the shooting, Mr. Duncan had been involved in a disturbance at a convenience store located at 5402 Birdwood Road. The altercation extended into the store's parking lot, prompting store clerks to intervene and separate the parties involved. Following this, Mr. Duncan walked towards the nearby apartment complex at 8849 Braesmont Drive. Shortly thereafter, he was shot in the complex's parking lot.
The suspect in this case is described as a Hispanic male, estimated to be between 18 to 25 years old, with a slim to medium build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark hoodie and white rubber boots. Surveillance footage capturing the suspect was released by the HPD in an effort to solicit public assistance in identifying him. As of the latest available information, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains unidentified.
