I’ve been thinking a lot about Michelle Proud today and her tragic story. It’s hard to wrap my head around how someone who was supposed to care for her could end up being the one who caused her so much harm. Based on what I found, there seems to have been a long history of abuse, which makes the situation even more tragic. I'm incredibly saddened for Michelle's family and friends, who had to endure this unimaginable loss and are undoubtedly still dealing with the aftermath. What strikes me most is the lack of escape routes there seem to have been for Michelle. I wonder if enough was done by those around her to notice the signs. Domestic violence is so difficult to navigate, and often those suffering feel they have no way out. It’s a troubling thought, and it really makes you wonder if there’s more that society can do as a whole to prevent stories like Michelle's from happening in the first place. Sending all my thoughts to her loved ones who are still searching for peace and hoping that others can learn how crucial it is to offer support and vigilance to those who might be in similar situations.
