It's absolutely devastating to read about Leticia Smith's case and the circumstances surrounding her death. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones who have been left to wrestle with their grief. One thing that really stands out to me is how courageous Leticia was in those final moments. Despite her injuries, she managed to call 911 and identify her attacker. That's an incredible act of bravery and strength, and I can't imagine how difficult it must be for her family to know she fought so hard. What I struggle to understand is how the criminal justice system can seem so lenient towards repeat offenders, especially in cases like this involving prior incidents of violence. It makes me wonder how we can protect victims better and hold offenders more accountable. Leticia's family deserves justice, but they also deserve change that ensures no other family has to endure this kind of pain. I hope that her story sparks a conversation about what needs to be improved in our system, and that her memory inspires real change.
