I've been reading up on the Sandy Hook Hotel incident from '75, and one thing that's really stayed with me is how deeply it impacted the community there. I can only imagine the shock and devastation the residents must have felt. Sandy Hook was known for being peaceful, but suddenly it was thrust into this whirlwind of violence and media frenzy. It's like overnight, the place changed from a calm community to the epicenter of chaos. My heart goes out to the families of Salvatore Saffioti and Frank D'Amato, as well as Donald Meredith, who suffered so much because of this altercation. I hope that the increased law enforcement scrutiny that followed helped bring some measure of peace back to the people who call Sandy Hook home. Does anyone from the area remember how the community reacted in the weeks following the incident? How did they manage to move forward?
