I've been thinking a lot about Terry Oakes Bourret and her role in the local art community. It's just so unsettling to try and understand how someone who brought so much beauty and joy into the world could have her life end in such a tragic way. I've read about her art classes and how she inspired so many people in Durham to pursue their own artistic journeys. It makes me wonder how her students and fellow artists are coping with her absence. Art is such a personal expression, and losing someone like Terry, who encouraged people to find their own creative voices, must leave a huge void. My thoughts are with her students and community who have to navigate this loss and carry on her legacy.
