I've been thinking about the surveillance image released from the city bus around the time of Devante "Breezy" Baker's murder. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for his loved ones to see that footage circulated in the media, knowing it's one of the last images of him. It's a stark reminder of how every detail, no matter how small, can be crucial in these investigations. The fact that Baker walked from Chapel Street to Sherman Court after being shot is haunting. It shows how desperately he was trying to survive and maybe seek help. Being found by officers only to be pronounced dead must have been devastating for his family and friends, waiting for a miracle that never came. It's so important to remember that behind the headlines and legal terms, there are individuals whose lives have been permanently altered. Devante was only 21, and it's impossible not to feel for those who continue to mourn him.

I’ve been following Devante Baker’s case for some time, and one thing I keep thinking about is the role technology played in finding justice for him. It’s unsettling to consider how important that surveillance image from the city bus was in piecing everything together. It always surprises me how much surveillance we have around us, and in this case, it was pivotal. While it doesn't bring Devante back, I'm relieved his family can have some semblance of closure knowing that his killer has been brought to justice. It's a small solace for them, I’m sure, but it’s a step toward healing. I wonder how often similar evidence helps in unsolved cases. Sending strength to his family during this incredibly tough time.
