Hey everyone, I've been following the discussion around Cory Hughes' tragic death, and I wanted to bring up something that's been on my mind. I can't help but think about how the community in West Garfield Park has been grappling with these senseless acts of violence for so many years. It's terrifying to think that a place where people want to live their lives and raise families can become so engulfed in fear. I read somewhere that the neighborhood has been trying to foster better relations between residents and law enforcement. But I wonder, how effective are these initiatives when people are understandably afraid to come forward with information that might help? It seems like a vicious cycle—people don’t talk because they fear for their safety, and without cooperation, it's tougher for police to make progress. These types of forums make me hopeful, though. Despite the pain, there’s a community here holding space for those we've lost like Cory, and striving to understand and support one another. I hope that his family finds some peace and that as more awareness is spread about these issues, real change might begin to take root. Sending love and strength to everyone affected. What's everyone else's take on how we, as virtual bystanders, can help amplify the voices calling for change?
