I’ve been following the tragic case of young Decorion Jones, and it really got me thinking about how many lives have been impacted by this senseless act. By all accounts, Decorion had just started attending Pine Bluff High School and, like so many teens, had a love for basketball. It's so sad to see such a young life, filled with potential, taken away. The part that hits home for me is how this marks the 10th homicide in Pine Bluff in 2016. I can’t help but wonder what’s being done to prevent these kinds of tragedies in the future. How is the community coping, and what support is there for the youth who might feel unsafe or scared? It’s up to us, both online and offline, to push for change, prevent violence, and support one another. Surely, there must be some initiatives or organizations looking to address these issues? Would love to know if anyone has further insight. Rest in peace, Decorion. You and your loved ones are in our thoughts.
