I've been following the Bryan Sanchez case closely, and something that's been on my mind is the role of social media in the aftermath of these kinds of tragedies. It's incredibly sad to see a young life lost so senselessly, and it seems like social media was used in both these crimes. For many of us, it's a space to connect, but for others, it's being twisted into a tool for documenting and even glorifying criminal acts. I can't shake the thought of how networks and messaging apps may have influenced Gutierrez and his group—or how they might have been pressured by online interactions. As trials are still pending, I hope there's a larger conversation about how we can create safer digital environments for everyone, especially our youth. It's devastating to consider that digital interactions could have played a part in leading Bryan to such a tragic end. To Bryan’s family and friends, who must feel this loss so deeply, my thoughts are with you during this incredibly difficult time.
