I came across this case recently and wanted to explore the topic of youth violence and firearm access. It genuinely breaks my heart to think about how a young life, like De'Evan's, can be cut short in such a tragic way. I'm concerned about how a 14-year-old could have access to a handgun in the first place. It makes me wonder about the gun laws in Texas and if there are any existing programs aimed at educating young people about the dangers of firearms. The fact that the families involved were familiar with each other only adds another layer of tragedy to this situation. It seems like more community outreach and education could be vital in preventing such incidents. The Dallas community's response has been amazing, especially with the support for De'Evan's family, but I think there’s more we can do to prevent youth violence in the first place. Does anyone know of successful programs in other cities or states that have helped reduce similar incidents? It's so important that we find better ways to protect our kids and keep them safe. Rest in peace, De'Evan.
