Has anyone else been following the June 9th incident on Ray Bon Drive? I've been thinking a lot about how terrifying it must have been for the residents nearby. Imagine being woken up in the middle of the night by the sound of gunfire and not knowing what’s going on or if you’re safe. It’s admirable how the SAPD quickly evacuated people to ensure their safety. I can’t help but think about the families living in that complex, especially those with kids, and the kind of trauma this might leave behind. Hope they’re all getting the support they need. And poor Gregory Visman – what an awful, senseless way to lose a life. Sending thoughts to his family. ?
It's truly difficult to comprehend what happened at that apartment complex in June. I've read several stories about Gregory Visman, and it sounds like he truly brightened many lives with his positive, easy-going nature. It must be devastating for his friends and family to lose someone so unexpectedly and violently.
What really struck me about this case is the sheer level of violence during the standoff. Over 100 rounds fired... it's hard to even visualize what that must have been like for the officers and the residents living nearby. Kudos to the SAPD for their swift evacuation efforts, which undoubtedly saved lives.
This situation really highlights the urgent need for better mental health resources. It makes you wonder if something could have been done earlier to prevent this tragedy. If anything, I hope this sparks more conversations about supporting mental health and spotting the signs of someone in crisis before such incidents occur. My thoughts are with Gregory's loved ones as they navigate through this incredibly difficult time.
