I've been following the developments in the Freddie Alfred III case, and something about the timeline just really has me reflecting on community safety. It's so unsettling to think how quickly an ordinary morning on Fairway Street turned tragic. I remember reading about Freddie, a.k.a "Lightning," and how he was always seen as such a protective figure to his family and friends. I can't wrap my head around the fact that someone so beloved in his community is suddenly gone because of an argument. It makes me wonder what steps we can take as a community to prevent such incidents from happening again. My heart truly goes out to his family, especially his children. They've lost a father, and that void is something no child should ever have to endure. Curious if anyone has insight on how other communities have successfully addressed gun violence, or even just thoughts on how we support families like Freddie's in these devastating times?
