Has anyone else looked into the part about the unfastened life jacket? It's always puzzled me. Why would Dennis have had it unfastened while canoeing, especially on a river like the North Platte? I get that it might have been uncomfortable or maybe he felt confident in his swimming abilities. Still, it strikes me as an odd detail—most people would keep it secured given the conditions. Could it have been an accident or something else that caused him to unfasten it? I know these might be just grasping at straws at this point, but sometimes the small details can mean more than we think in cases like this. Thoughts?

It's always puzzled me why Dennis Laudenklos’ life jacket was found unfastened. I mean, if they were dealing with a strong current, wouldn't it make more sense for the jacket to be buckled up? Could it have come undone during the overturn, or is it possible it wasn’t fastened properly to begin with? I feel like either scenario might change how we think about what happened to him. And then, there’s this matter of new evidence from 1994. Does anyone know what that could have been about? Everything about this case feels like a piece of a puzzle that just doesn't quite fit.

Does anyone else think it's odd that Dennis's life jacket was found unfastened? I know accidents happen, especially on the water, but an unfastened life jacket seems strange. As an Air Force vet, I'd imagine Dennis would be diligent about safety. I was wondering if maybe he had unfastened it for some reason before they hit the dam or if something else might have happened. It's such a puzzling aspect of the case that never seemed to add up for me. Anyone have thoughts on this or heard any theories over the years?
