I can't stop thinking about the detailed planning that went into this horrific event. It's terrifying to realize that Audrey Hale had mapped out and thought through these actions for months. What must go through a person's mind to allow them to carry out such an act? I wonder if there were signs that could have been addressed with more urgency or intervention. It's incredibly upsetting that despite being under a doctor's care for an emotional disorder, the situation escalated to this. The conversation around mental health and its links to such tragedies gets louder every time something like this happens, yet it feels like progress is slow. My heart goes out to Hallie Scruggs' family and the entire Covenant School community. It's hard to comprehend experiencing such a loss in a space that should feel safe and nurturing. I hope the increased security and ongoing discussions can somehow bring some peace or prevent future harm. We desperately need solutions that protect innocent lives.
