I’ve been following the tragic case of Mi'Khy Kamir Sullivan Birdsong, and it's just so difficult to process how a promising young life has been cut short. I heard he was such an incredible athlete with both football and basketball, which makes this loss even heavier—not just for his family and friends who are in mourning, but also for his teammates and coaches who saw his potential. I’m particularly saddened thinking about his teammates who must be feeling a mix of grief and confusion right now. Sports can form such strong bonds and memories, both on and off the field. I can only imagine how devastating it must be for those kids to have such an important part of their young lives irrevocably changed. They’ll carry this with them forever, and that’s just so, so sad. I really hope the community finds some way to support these young people. Maybe setting up something like counseling or mentorship programs could help them process this tragedy. Losing someone in such a sudden, violent way is traumatic, and these kids are going to need all the support they can get as they struggle to come to terms with what happened.
