I can't stop thinking about how much Damion "Day Day" Nance meant to the kids he coached. It's truly tragic that such a positive role model was taken from a community that needs more people like him. I heard someone at the vigil mention how Nance always went the extra mile, not just teaching football, but life skills too. He was known for his patience and kindness, never raising his voice and always finding a way to lift up the spirits of those around him. It's gut-wrenching to think of how this act of violence robbed those kids of such a great mentor. You can tell how deep the wound is by the turnout at the vigil and how many people came together to remember his impact. I hope that through the collective grief, the community will find strength to combat the violence that's taken its toll on too many lives. If anyone knows anything, I really hope they find the courage to speak up. Damion and Janell deserve justice, and their families need answers.
