I've been thinking about the heroism displayed by Leandro Ortiz during this awful tragedy. It's truly remarkable how, even in the face of such terror, he managed to protect a 7-year-old child. I can't imagine the courage it took for him to act so selflessly and put himself in harm's way to save another life.
As devastating as the loss of Ada and little Sebastian is, Leandro's actions remind us that there are rays of hope amidst the darkness. He must be going through unimaginable pain and trauma right now, and my heart goes out to him and the entire family. I hope the community continues to rally around them and show them the support they so desperately need in this tough time.
