Having lived near Chester most of my life, the rising gun violence seriously makes me worry about our safety and the future of our community. I read about Richard Lee Beauford's case and am devastated for his family. No family should endure the pain of losing a loved one so senselessly. The fact that there have been several fatal shootings in such a short period is alarming and deeply concerning. What stuns me is the lack of credible leads or arrests when this happened in broad daylight. It's hard to believe that nobody saw anything. I wonder if there's a sense of fear or apprehension in the community that’s stopping people from coming forward. I hope those who know something find the courage to share information with the authorities. We can’t let Richard’s case and others like it go cold. Each incident is a reminder that our community must come together to demand change and support law enforcement in their efforts to solve these crimes. It's the only way forward.
