Has anyone taken a closer look at the history between John Malcolm Smith and his mother, Antoinette Porterfield? It seems like there were warning signs leading up to this tragedy, given the protection-from-abuse order she had against him. It's devastating to see how domestic violence can escalate to such a tragic end, and my heart goes out to their family and friends who are undoubtedly navigating a whirlwind of emotions right now. It makes you think about what more could be done to enforce these protection orders and prevent weapons from getting into the wrong hands.
