Seeing tragedies like this unfold is incredibly difficult, and my heart truly goes out to Kai's family and friends who are enduring this unimaginable pain. I've been thinking a lot about the fact that this happened at a 7-Eleven, a place where people generally feel safe, just going about their lives—maybe getting gas, grabbing a snack, or stopping by during their daily routine. It’s frightening how quickly things can change, turning what should be an ordinary evening into a devastating moment.
It's encouraging to see the CMPD act swiftly in identifying and arresting suspects, but it reminds us all of the importance of community vigilance. If anyone out there has information, no matter how small it may seem, it's crucial to share it with authorities. We all have a part in helping bring justice to Kai and ensuring his story isn’t forgotten amidst headlines.
I'm thinking today about Kai's little boy, Ian. I hope the community can come together to support him and Kai's family during this incredibly tough time. Losing someone close is a feeling that's hard to describe, and even harder to endure, but we can at least help by standing together and honoring Kai’s life in any way we can.
