I’ve been following Emily Steinhoff's case, and the thing that really sticks with me is how this tragic incident unfolded during what should have been a routine and peaceful custody exchange. It's chilling to think about the fear and confusion that Emily and Hillary must have experienced in those moments. For someone as accomplished and caring as Emily, who dedicated her life to helping others, this seems especially senseless. The fact that Dorian Thomas opened the door with a firearm in hand is deeply disturbing. It makes me wonder about the planning and intent behind his actions. Was there something that triggered him specifically that day, or had there been issues leading up to this? It’s a sobering thought that someone could be capable of such irreversible violence when children and family members are involved. I sincerely hope that justice is served, and that Emily’s family, particularly her son Miles, finds the support and peace they need during this incredibly difficult time.
