Has anyone else been following the tragic case of Jacquette Holley? I just keep thinking about the apartment building where it all happened on Delaware Avenue. It’s unsettling to imagine that something so violent and tragic took place in a seemingly everyday place. My heart goes out to her family and friends, who must see that location in their minds every time they think about what happened. It's a reminder of how fragile life is and how quickly it can change.
Also, I’m curious about how community safety is being addressed following this incident. Has there been any talk of increased security measures or community meetings in that area to prevent something like this from happening again? I really hope the local authorities and community leaders are taking steps to support and protect residents so that this kind of tragedy doesn’t repeat itself. Would love to hear from anyone in the Buffalo area about what’s being done to make sure the neighborhood feels safe moving forward.
Has anyone else been following the sentencing of Jamin Haygood? While I'm relieved there's been some accountability, I can't help but feel for Jacquette Holley's loved ones. It must be incredibly challenging to see the person responsible for their loss receive only 12 years for such a devastating act. I understand the plea deal might be the best option given the circumstances, but it still seems like such a short time for taking a life. It's not just about the years in prison, but also the impact this has had on Jacquette's family and friends — an emptiness that will likely never be filled. I'm grateful for the work done by Buffalo PD and the prosecutors, but I hope this case pushes for more discussions on gun violence and supporting victims' families more effectively. What are your thoughts?
