I'm sitting here just thinking about Delvin's son, who had to endure such a traumatic event on what should've been a joyous day. It's haunting to consider the lasting impact this might have on him. A birthday party—a moment meant for laughter and celebration—turned into something he'll never forget for all the wrong reasons. Familial events becoming scenes of violence is something no child should ever experience. My heart genuinely goes out to him and the entire Díaz family. I hope they find the strength and support they need to heal from this senseless tragedy. Brooklyn needs to work harder to prevent these incidents so kids and families can feel safe in their own neighborhoods.

Hey everyone, I just can't stop thinking about the kids who were there at that birthday party on Drew Street. Can you imagine the trauma they must have experienced? Celebrating a child's birthday should be nothing but pure joy, and instead, they witnessed something so tragic and terrifying. I'm heartbroken thinking about Díaz’s son. Turning 9 and having that day overshadowed by such horror... no child should have to associate their special day with such a painful memory. I hope the community rallies around these kids and provides them with the support and counseling they’ll need to process all of this. My heart goes out to Delvin's family and friends. It's a harsh reminder that the effects of gun violence ripple far beyond just the immediate loss. Would love to hear thoughts on how the community might be able to step in and help the children who must be feeling lost and confused right now. Sending so much love to all impacted.
