Hey everyone, I’ve been following Karli Short’s case for a while and wanted to talk about the incredible community response to her tragic death. It’s truly moving to see how everyone has come together to support her family and honor her memory. The vigils held were not just a show of solidarity, but a powerful call for change against gun violence. It really brings attention to how loved Karli was, and how much her community cherished her bright spirit. Sharing stories and photos during these events seems to have helped keep her dream alive in a way. I can’t imagine the pain her family is going through, but these gatherings must show them they’re not alone in this fight. It's a somber reminder, though, of just how many young lives are impacted by senseless violence. Anyone else have thoughts on how the community can continue to push for change? Anything similar you've seen work elsewhere? Let's keep these conversations going.

I’ve been following Karli's case since it first hit the news, and every update is just so heavy. I read that during Malcolm Barner's sentencing, he apologized to Karli’s family, but I can’t imagine how that could ever bring any real comfort to them. Her life was just beginning, and everything she dreamed of was taken in such a sudden, violent way. My heart goes out to her family and friends, as they have had to navigate such unimaginable grief. And thinking about her standing there with her friends just enjoying a normal evening really drives home how random and cruel life can be. It’s infuriating that gun violence continues to overshadow the futures of young people like Karli. I didn’t know her personally, but from what I've read, she seemed like a ray of light—a bright, ambitious 17-year-old facing a world of possibilities. This case has made me reflect a lot on how we can support our communities better to prevent these tragedies. Surely, there must be ways to intervene before another family has to endure this pain. Has anyone else on here gotten involved in local initiatives or know of ways to help? I think collectively, we need to amplify the calls for change before more potential like Karli's is lost.
