I’ve been following Malik Muhammad’s case, and it’s just devastating to see such senseless violence at what’s supposed to be a joyful celebration. My heart goes out to his family and friends, who are undoubtedly going through unimaginable pain right now. Something that's been on my mind—how do we even begin to address the security challenges during massive events like the West Indian American Day Parade? I know that police presence has been a point of discussion every year, but clearly, there’s still a lot to be done. It's commendable that the NYPD made an arrest quickly, but prevention is key. Any thoughts on what more could be done proactively to ensure these community gatherings remain safe spaces for everyone? The thought of more families having to endure this kind of loss is just too painful.
