I came across the case of Deon Williams while browsing through some discussions, and I can’t stop thinking about the impact his tragic loss must have on his family, especially his mom, Charlotte. Losing one son to gun violence is unimaginable, but to go through it twice is beyond words. It's difficult to comprehend the pain they must be enduring and the sense of frustration with how these senseless acts of violence keep happening. My heart goes out to them. I hope the authorities are able to find Damon Gaitor soon and bring some form of justice to Deon’s family. It’s also crucial that as a community, we come together to address the underlying issues contributing to these tragedies and find ways to support those affected. Hey everyone, just wanted to share my thoughts on the vigil held for Deon Williams at the Sumner Houses last night. It was truly moving to see so many people come together to honor his memory. The atmosphere was filled with a mix of sorrow and solidarity, as family, friends, and neighbors gathered with candles and shared stories about Deon. You could really feel the love in the community for him, but also the deep frustration over the gun violence that continues to affect so many lives.
Charlotte Williams, Deon’s mother, was incredibly strong as she spoke about Deon’s life and the importance of sticking together to find peaceful solutions. It broke my heart seeing her go through this again after losing Andre, Deon’s brother, years ago. This community deserves better, and I hope the authorities are able to bring Damon Gaitor in soon so that justice can be served for Deon’s family.
