It’s truly sad to think about the ripple effect tragedies like this can have on the families involved. I can't even begin to imagine what Alvin Ortiz’s family is going through right now. Regardless of his past, no one deserves to have their life cut short in such a violent way. It's alarming to see how certain lives can be so deeply caught up in a cycle that’s hard to break. What's perplexing to me is how these encounters seem almost unavoidable for some people. Do you guys think there's a societal aspect we're missing in all this that pushes people back into lives of crime, even after they’ve served sentences? We talk a lot about the past records of the people involved, but I can't help but wonder how we as a community can help prevent these situations from happening in the first place. Sending strength to both families involved as they navigate this difficult time.
