I've been thinking a lot about the impact that Caryon Harmon's death has had on his community and his family. It's incredibly difficult to see another young life taken by violence, and it must be devastating for those who knew and loved him. I can't imagine the pain his family is going through, especially with the holidays approaching and no closure in sight. As someone who lives in St. Louis, it's frustrating to see these incidents continue happening. It feels like every week there's news of another shooting, another life lost, and yet the system doesn't seem to change fast enough to prevent these tragedies. I'm worried about the psychological toll stories like this take on young people in our community. What kind of world are we creating when teens and young adults grow up fearing for their safety on a daily basis? It feels like a dark cycle that keeps repeating. I truly hope that more community programs and support systems can be established to give kids alternative paths and to help them deal with the trauma that stems from this environment. For now, my thoughts are with Caryon's family and the survivors who are left to pick up the pieces.
