I can't stop thinking about the impact this had on the children who were there. As a parent myself, I can't imagine the trauma and confusion they must be experiencing now. From what I've read, there were not only the Hecks' kids but also two of their friends at the house when this all happened. I really hope they are getting the support and counseling they need to cope with something like this. It's hard to fathom how terrifying that environment must have been for them, especially if they were caught in the middle of their parents' arguments leading up to this tragedy. Children should never have to witness such violence, let alone be at risk. My heart goes out to them and anyone trying to help them process this and move forward. What a terrifying night that must've been for those kids.
